Five years after the University of the Philippines shifted its school calendar, DEBESMSCAT, along with other SUCs in the Bicol Region, shifts its academic calendar to August beginning this AY 2019-2020.
The shift was based on the agreement entered into by DEBESMSCAT along with other members of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) in Region V under Resolution No. 15, s. 2018 on December 16, 2018, as part of the move toward “ASEAN integration and international mobility of faculty and students.”
The new schedule syncs in with that of universities and academic institutions in the ASEAN countries.
“[Shifting the school calendar] will improve the opportunities of our graduates to employ and our faculty to pursue advanced education outside the country particularly within the ASEAN countries,” said Dr. Erwin H. Malto, SUC president.
Classes for the first semester of AY 2019-2020 will begin on August 5, 2019 and end sometime on the second week of December.
